Congresswoman Van Duyne’s Weekly Update
Irving, Texas – On Saturday, IndyCar and the International Race of Champions took over the streets of our nation’s capital. Sunday was the main event with the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, another historic celebration of America’s 250th birthday! I previously had the chance to meet with Guru in D.C. about his work advancing education in the autism community. It’s encouraging to hear he’s still supporting the autism community while he’s in high school!
We are excited to have Morgan Stanley down on Y’all Street! They are one of the latest companies who announced they are expanding their footprint to North Texas, as they released plans for their new $1.3B Dallas hub. Texas’ business friendly and pro-growth environment continues to attract new opportunities for development that strengthen our economy.
I started out my Monday with a fantastic visit to Hilton Dallas/Park Cities for a firsthand look at what it takes to run a hotel in North Texas.
I met with employees from across the hotel, from engineering, front desk, to the culinary and kitchen team, housekeeping, and management. During the visit, I learned how to issue a room key with the front desk team, make a hotel bed, and fold a fitted sheet like a pro.
The hotel industry is a major driver of jobs and economic activity here in North Texas, and a huge part of what keeps tourism thriving across the Metroplex.
Tuesday morning, I had a wonderful time meeting with Craig Bradley, the owner of Vector Brewing, in Lake Highlands. They are a family-owned small business that brews all of their beer in house. I was lucky enough to tour their facility and see the amazing space they have been able to create for the community.
Later that day, I enjoyed sitting down with Breakthrough T1D, founded in 1970 by families who had loved ones diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and now the leading research and advocacy group for T1D. I was able to meet with members from the local Greater Dallas and Fort Worth chapter and learn about the resources they offer to members of our North Texas community living with T1D.
A few years ago, I first visited WilliamsRDM, a North Texas manufacturer and family-owned small business. When their CEO, Melissa, was in D.C. in July, I learned more about their recent expansion, which I was able to tour on Wednesday.
Thanks to immediate R&D expensing, guaranteed by the Working Families Tax Cuts, WilliamsRDM now has the certainty to invest, and has already significantly expanded their operational capacity and efficiency.
North Texas is built on small businesses like Acquario’s in Keller, one of the many locally owned restaurants that make our communities special.
I spent Wednesday evening working a shift with their team, hearing about how no tax on tips is putting more of their hard-earned money directly in their pockets. This is exactly who the Working Families Tax Cuts were built to support. It’s their money – they earned it, and they should get to decide how it’s spent.
The growth of Y’all Street is not slowing down. Yesterday, I joined Governor Abbott and leaders from across the Lone Star State for the grand opening of the New York Stock Exchange’s Texas headquarters.
I was glad to be there alongside many Texas business owners who make our economy run. Texas is the 8th largest economy in the world, bigger than most countries, and we’re still growing every day.

Texas-24 Work of the Week
Today, I joined my Republican Study Committee colleagues in urging Attorney General Blanche to review the Stop Nick Shirley Act, signed into law by California Governor Newsom. States should be working to combat fraud, not punishing those who uncover it.
Lawmakers should be pushing for greater accountability of taxpayer-funded organizations instead of providing means to shield them from public oversight. We are lucky to have independent journalists like Nick Shirley exposing fraud across the country.
